Toghether for bats

To familiarize the pupil with the bat species that live around them, to clarify a lot of myths and superstitions related to these mammals, environmental education activities are hold at the localities with significant and precious bat colonies.
These activities take place in 30 localities of six counties (Satu Mare, Salaj, Bihor, Cluj, Mures and Harghita). In organization we are helped by priests but also by educational staff in schools.
In the frame of the action we held small presentations, discussions focused on the ecological importance of bats and their protection, combined with practical skills development activities. Theoretical interactive activities are prepared depending on the particular age of the pupils and there are combined with practical work of making games and objects. With these presentations, children acquire a holistic view on the biology and ecology of bats and understand the importance of protecting these animals. Activities are successful because negative opinion of children turned into a positive one concerning bat myths and superstitions.
